About RTI

Mission

RTI International (RTI) is dedicated to improving the human condition through multi disciplinary research, development, and technical services that meet the highest standards of professional performance.

Overview

RTI International is an independent not-for-profit organization performing research in many disciplines for government, industry and other clients throughout the United States and abroad.

RTI conducts research that responds to priorities in medicine and pharmaceuticals, public health, advanced technologies, environmental protection, and public policies.

RTI was incorporated at the end of 1958 by joint action of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University in Durham, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh. RTI is a separately operated affiliate of the three schools with its own staff and facilities. Close working ties at many levels are maintained with the founding universities.

Growing from a handful of scientists in central North Carolina in 1959 to over 2,600 individuals working in 40 countries today, RTI has become one of the premier research institutes in the world. RTI maintains nine offices in the United States, five international offices, and one international subsidiary, as well as project-specific offices around the world.
